In the Philippines, the Reproductive Health Bill has stalled because of strong opposition from the Catholic Church.
Note that this bill is primarily to educate people about options for family planning and other methods. To broaden the target of sex education outside the privileged elite and towards the majority. There are so many families in the country that raise children they can’t afford to support because they don’t know about family planning, birth control and are stuck on misconceptions.
It galls me to have religion limit my options for my health. It irritates me more to have people who don’t have my options have no options at all.
Religion is not supposed to equate ignorance.
