One of the most poignant stories of the London Olympics 2012 is South Korean fencer Shin A Lam who unfairly missed out on her chance at Olympic Gold from a technical difficulty and an unfair ruling.
Considering the equipment quite honestly fucked up, the proper ruling should have been to reset the clock so they could do over. Not rule against her and forcing her to accept the decision by making her do the bronze medal fight right after.
If I were the fencer who won unfairly against her, I would have appealed to reset the clock, both so to be fair and so I know I would have won fairly.
Dumb move, Olympic officials.
